Review: Classical Historian

History has never been my forté. To be honest, when I was in school, I hated it. That is until a professor in college made it fun! For the first time ever, I couldn't wait to get to history class. His presentation brought history to life. So of course when teaching my children about history I want to make sure not only are they not bored out their mind, but that I'm not either! That's why I was so excited to get the chance to review a product from the Classical Historian.

The company offers aides to help teach history through games and other creative curriculum ideas. It was founded by a couple, one that was a former public school teacher, looking to make history fun for their own children. They offer a variety of games, curriculum and hands on activities varying in price from $9.95 to $79.99.

I received the the Medieval History Memory Game ($14.95) to use with my kids. It was easy enough for my 3 year old to play and yet introduced my 7 year old to some parts of history we hadn't started learning about. I decided with her that the only way she could get her match was if she could also find a fact about the card she matched.

The game cam with 64 cards and instructions on a couple of different ways to play. The topics are divided into four categories (Europe, The Americas, Far East, Arabia), which could allow you to focus solely on a particular area you were teaching about. My kids love playing matching games so this was a perfect match (no pun intended) for our family to add to our curriculum.

  1. Hi Raquel! Hope this message finds you well. You recently left a comment on my blog about a post I wrote on procrastination, of all things...hahaha...and I'm finally being kind enough to return the visit. I just followed you on Google+ too. Hope we can connect more in the Fall. Happy summer, Nicki
